E-invoicing: Ready for Prime Time
Of the 30 billion invoices sent and received in Europe every year, more than 90% are in paper format. This is not only labour intensive and error prone, but comes at both a financial and environmental cost. Such manual operations slow invoice reconciliation, leading to poor relationships with suppliers and buyers and, potentially, poor cash flow management. This paper discusses the challenges posed by inefficient manual invoice processes, the need for e-invoicing, and how an organization can focus on its core business by handing over invoice processing to a managed service provider.

Candle Releases New Command Center App for IBM MQSI 2
IBM has announced a four-year, $200 million investment to attempt to make it more cost effective and easier for companies to manage data on IBM S/390 enterprise servers. The proposed solution is a new Candle Corporation product with a GUI front-end that can track message flow, queue times, and other metrics. Is this yet another example of IBM leveraging technology through partnerships instead of always trying to roll their own, as Oracle has done?

EXAMPLE INVOICE: MQSI community. As an example of its usefulness, if a sending application forwards a message to a receiving application that is not ready to accept it, MQSI will store the message in a queue until the receiver is ready (this is an asynchronous method known as store and forward ). If the receiver does not come back on line, all the other messages can be blocked behind it. This can affect the business processes, and may be difficult to detect. This is a typical example of a bottleneck . According to Steve
